Layla Magneffect ~ Not So Simple...

So I tried the Layla Magneffect magnetic polishes and here is the end result. I had a bit of trouble as the magnet wasn't strong enough to create the design on the sides of my nails. This annoyed me a bit. The magnet is flat and located on the top of the lid. 


I also have a Nails Inc magnetic polish, as well as an Icing's and some from Rite Aid. The magnet doesn't come off of the lid like it does in the Nails Inc. magnetics, and it also doesn't have the place to rest your cuticle on.

I really like this colour, it's Blue Grey Flow. The darker parts are also somewhat sheer so you can layer this over other colours. I tried teal on a nail wheel and it was really pretty. 

I like the polish and application, but I prefer to use the flexible magnet from Rite Aid! That way I can get the design on my entire nail.

I did find that the effect weakened over time, having nothing to do with the addition of top coat. I did find that top coat smudged the design. Next time I'll wait longer until applying top coat. 

What I love about magnetic polishes is that they are a fun and relatively simple way to create nail art. AND they have this lovely three dimensional appearance that you can only appreciate if you see it in person. It looks like the design changes and shifts as you move your nails. 

The only downsides to this polish were the flat magnet and the steep price! Luckily I got this in a swap and cheaper brands are coming out with their own versions of magnetic polishes. Now I only wish I had the star design...

Bobbie Glitters from the Philippines! (and new swatchsicles)

You may remember I posted about some polish my boyfriend got for me from the Philippines. Well, here are some swatches! I have for you 3 of the Bobbie polishes.

The one of the left looks like Across the Universe!

I think the centre one would be perfect for something like Xmas or New Years!

The one on the right looks like it will be an awesome layering glitter!

They are on my NEW nail swatching sticks =) (Yes, this is like my 5th trial system I think...) but I love these! I got them off ebay and I only ordered 1 set of 50 in case they wrinkle. Some other bloggers have found that when polished, some of the clear sticks will wrinkle up. I was lucky that mine did not wrinkle, but unfortunately when I went to purchase more, they were all sold out =( I'm currently waiting for the seller to restock and HOPEFULLY they will still be the "anti-wrinkle" ones lol. 

For those of you that are OK with using the nude coloured sticks, I hear those don't wrinkle. You know me though, I need my clear!

Barielle ~~ Buddha-ful

Here I have for you a Barielle polish, Buddha-ful! I recently found it at Winners in a set of 5 polishes. 

The other polishes I got were Decadence, U-Concrete-Me and Slate of Affairs (and another Buddha-ful for frankening!).

      

Buddha-ful is a nude based polish with green-blue flakes. It is sheer and here I have on 2 coats topped with Revlon Quick Dry. I don't mind that this polish is sheer. It's like a jelly-creme. It kind of gives the look of a soft french manicure with a subtle exotic hint of sparkle.

In most lights the flakies appear green like here...

...and here...

...but at extreme levels and just the right lighting, you can see the blue.

**Note: This polish is not meant for layering over dark colours. It has a very milky base and will most likely look streaky. However, I have tried it over the 3 other Barielles I got and it looked good! Just make sure you do a really thin layer!

I also want to try perhaps thinning this polish out and also frankening it into tinted shades. Hence the backup I got =)
