Which Pink Holo Do You Like Better?

Hello! A few weeks ago we had some sun so I was able to swatch a few holos! I tried on Ludurana Maravilhosa and absolutely loved it! It is sheer and super sparkly and holographic! I then started to wonder how it would compare to Make Up Store Britta and Glitter Gal Frappe...

I couldn't find Frappe, so here is a comparison between Maravilhosa and Britta!

Britta, Maravilhosa, Britta, Maravilhosa
Britta, Maravilhosa, Britta, Maravilhosa
Britta, Maravilhosa, Britta, Maravilhosa
Here is what they look like in indirect sunlight
Britta, Maravilhosa, Britta, Maravilhosa

Ludurana Maravilhosa
~ Sheer, can be layered, glossy finish, simple application, normal dry time
Make Up Store Britta
~ Opaque, lilac toned, matte, difficult "super-holo" application, very quick dry time
Both
~ EXTREMELY HOLOGRAPHIC in their own different ways!

Comment and tell me which one you like better and why =)

I'm off to go look for Frappe =(

Nicole by OPI - Opal Texture Layered!

Yesterday I introduced you to NOPI - Opal Texture, as promised, here is it layered over a few different polishes! I have one coat of NOPI - Opal Texture over 6 difference polishes and topped with 2 coats of top coat =)

L->R:
Ozotic 505, 506, 528
(all over black except half of 528)
L->R:
China Glaze - Frostbite
Color Club - Pucci-licious
Color Club - Poptastic
Look at the sparkle! It's much more pink and much more sparkly in person! I love it over the pink and purple!

Thoughts???

Nicole by OPI - Opal Texture

Today I have:
Nicole by OPI - Opal Texture

This is my fist NOPI polish =) I stumbled upon this polish in a display at Shoppers Drug Mart

Shoppers seems to be stepping it up lately! I did a google search of this polish as well as the 3 other colours that came in the collection and found that they aren't even supposed to be out until April!

The other 3 texture (crackle/shatter) colours are Quartz, Amethyst and Aquamarine (and the last 2 are GLITTERS)! I will definitely be on the lookout for the glitters elsewhere as NOPIs are $11 at shoppers + 12% tax! =(

NOW, on to the swatches!

This is 1 coat of NOPI - Opal Texture over 1 dry coat of Wet n Wild - Black Cream.
No top coat.
This is what it looks
like most of the time

pinky-purple

This is what it looks
like when tilted in the light

peachy-pink

The part of the swatchsicles don't have black polish on them and as you can see, NOPI - Opal Texture is very sheer until put over a dark colour! It is also a duochrome! I think this is the FIRST duochrome, sheer, shimmer texture/crackle/shatter (or whatever you want to call it) polish I've EVER seen!

It's really pretty and I think the layering possibilities with it are endless! I've never been drawn to NOPIs before, but this one just spoke to me! It was on the bottom shelf of a display facing backwards and it managed to catch my eye! It has a beautiful pink shimmer and adds a touch of sparkle to any polish. It also shattered very well! I will definitely add the teal + purple glitter NOPI textures to my wishlist now!

Be sure to check back tomorrow to see this polish swatched over a few different colours!!!

Layla Magneffect ~ Not So Simple...

So I tried the Layla Magneffect magnetic polishes and here is the end result. I had a bit of trouble as the magnet wasn't strong enough to create the design on the sides of my nails. This annoyed me a bit. The magnet is flat and located on the top of the lid

I also have a Nails Inc magnetic polish, as well as an Icing's and some from Rite Aid. The magnet doesn't come off of the lid like it does in the Nails Inc. magnetics, and it also doesn't have the place to rest your cuticle on.

Tee hee here's a picture of my right hand!

I really like this colour, it's
Blue Grey Flow. The darker parts are also somewhat sheer so you can layer this over other colours. I tried teal on a nail wheel and it was really pretty.

I like the polish and application
, but I prefer to use the flexible magnet from Rite Aid! That way I can get the design on my entire nail.

I did find that
the effect weakened over time, having nothing to do with the addition of top coat. I did find that top coat smudged the design. Next time I'll wait longer until applying top coat.

What I love about magnetic polishes is that they are a
fun and relatively simple way to create nail art. AND they have this lovely three dimensional appearance that you can only appreciate if you see it in person. It looks like the design changes and shifts as you move your nails.

The only
downsides to this polish were the flat magnet and the steep price! Luckily I got this in a swap and cheaper brands are coming out with their own versions of magnetic polishes. Now I only wish I had the star design...

Do you have magnetics? Any tips or cool ideas??

Nail-Venturous Lacquers - Must Have Glitters!

Hello everyone! Today I'd like to share with you my swatches of my Nail-venturous polishesI showed you Floam previously here.

Here are some bottle shots first!

 ...and now for the swatches!
Here is each polish swatched on my swatchsicles. Each is 2 coats with no top coat.

~ Man-maid Dreams ~ Rustic Remains ~ Voodoo Doll ~ Floam ~ Pinkerbell ~

To see what they would look like with top coat, here are the other sides of the swatchsicles. With the exception of Rustic Remains, each of these polishes can be built up to opacity to wear alone. Also, they can all be layered over base colour to give endless options!

Rustic remains looks gorgeous over black and Floam + Pinkerbell look awesome over other neon colours!

Amy's polishes can be bought at her Etsy shop
here. She is planning to open shop on March 19th! Be sure to check out her blog to see some of her other gorgeous polishes and her amazing swatches! A selection of her polishes are also available here at Ninja Polish!
I absolutely love Amy's polishes! AND for those of you who know me, I really really tend to dislike glitter polishes. These are not your average glitter polishes though! They are all gorgeous and up there with the likes of Deborah Lippmann's Across the Universe <3

Thoughts?

Nail-Venturous Lacquers - Floam

Hello! Today I have an amazing polish to show you from my friend and fellow blogger Amy (I'm Feeling Nail-Venturous).

Do you remember ever playing with floam? It's a fun toy that's like the child of tiny coloured Styrofoam balls and Play-Doh!

Without further ado, here is Floam!

Here is 2 coats of Floam and 2 coats of top coat to give it a smooth glassy finish. Floam applies quite easily for such a dense glitter. It's also important to note that the glitter in this polish is quite unique. It's tiny little teal and green neon pieces in a clear base. The polish can appear more green or more blue depending on the lighting. I really love this polish. It is so different and gives a new twist to neon polishes!

Amy's polishes can be bought at her Etsy stop here. She is planning to open shop on March 19th! So get ready, she has a ton of amazing glitter polishes! You can also find Floam here at Ninja Polish!

Check back soon for swatches of some of Amy's other polishes! (Pinkerbell, Voodoo Doll, Rustic Remains, and Man-maid Dreams)

Spotted! Essence Color & Go in Canada!

I've been super busy with school lately, but here's a quick post on new polishes available in Canada
Essence is now at Shoppers Drug Mart! The Colour & Go are 5ml and I LOVE HOW THE LIDS ARE THE SAME COLOUR AS THE POLISH! How cute is that??? I've found myself really into minis lately AND AT THE AMAZINGLY LOW (Shopper's) PRICE OF $1.49!!!! HOW CAN YOU GO WRONG??? (For those of you that aren't familiar with shoppers, their polishes are quite pricey with some Sally Hansens at $9!)
So without further ado, here is the entire current collection, except for 1 blue sparkly colour that was sold out   =( I think I may already have that colour though from my Australian swap.... So what are you waiting for??? Have a look and go out and BUY ALL THE POLISH already! lol... <3

Here's a quick swatch wheel of all the colours except for the black and the missing blue. (which is supposedly Choose Me)

All the colours are so lovely! Especially "A Lovely Secret" I also can't wait for spring to try out the yellow! Yes, I said yellow!

Since they are so small and cheap, you can be adventurous and try colours you never would have before!
Note, I did not find these in all of my Shoppers yet, so if you don't find them right away, ask and keep checking back! Also, they were not near the cosmetics section, they were in a stand alone display.

Check out Rebecca Likes Nails for a picture of what the Shoppers display looks like!

What do you think of these???
