Deborah Lippmann ~ Starlight Box Set Swatches

I absolutely love this set! I'm a huge fan of Deborah Lippmann and her glitters. It's one of my favourite designer brands. The bottles are so elegant and unique and the polishes are so fabulousI do find it hard to justify buying her polishes at their high price point though ($20-22), so I only own 2 other Lippmann's:  Across the Universe which was a lovely gift from my boyfriend, and a Happy Birthday mini from Sephora points

When I saw this set it just jumped out at me, especially Cosmic Love and Fantastic Voyage. What is it with me and pink glitter?? I don't tend to like pink polishes, but Cosmic Love is jaw dropping gorgeous! The packaging of the box is sturdy and up scale. The polishes are very opaque for glitters. Each swatch below is 2 coats, but you could get away with 1 if you're layering or if you want a less extravagant look. I am very happy to add the Deborah Lippmann Starlight set to my collection.

There are 6 mini 8ml polishes in this set, all glitters, and all unique:

- Twilight Zone - a black fine glitter with multi-sized silver/holographic glitter
- Blinded By The Light - Multi-sized silver holographic glitter and small white glitter
- Cosmic Love - Multi-sized silver, pink and purple holographic glitter in a pink jelly base
- Fantastic Voyage - Multi-sized silver and purple holographic glitter in a purplejelly base
- Champagne Supernova - Multi-sized silver holographic glitter and small white glitter in a champagne/peach jelly base
- Lost in Spacea navy blue fine glitter with multi-sized silver and holographic glitter

        TWILIGHT TONE
BLINDED BY THE LIGHT

        COSMIC LOVE
FANTASTIC VOYAGE

        CHAMPAGNE SUPERNOVA
LOST IN SPACE

The set was $50 and I bought it at Murale. They had a 20x the points event for Shoppers Optimum points, so I was able to get ~$15 worth in points back on this purchase. That also helped me justify it (not like I need help justifying polish spending though).

Will you be getting this set??

31 Day Challenge ~ Day 1: Red

Hello! So here we are with
Day 1 of the 31 Day Challenge. Today's theme is RED.

Here is Color Club ~ Santa's Cinnamon. It's a beautiful red glitter jelly polish and it's also a cinnamon scented smelly polish.

It was really hard to take a picture of this polish. It's really pretty in real life. It looks as if it's glowing.
Most of you know that red is not one of my go-to colours. One thing I love about this challenge is that I will have to use colours I've never used before!

Check back tomorrow for Day 2: Orange =)

Also check out everyone else doing this challenge with me:

Nail-Venturous Lacquers - Must Have Glitters!

Hello everyone! Today I'd like to share with you my swatches of my Nail-venturous polishesI showed you Floam previously here.

Here are some bottle shots first!

 ...and now for the swatches!
Here is each polish swatched on my swatchsicles. Each is 2 coats with no top coat.

~ Man-maid Dreams ~ Rustic Remains ~ Voodoo Doll ~ Floam ~ Pinkerbell ~

To see what they would look like with top coat, here are the other sides of the swatchsicles. With the exception of Rustic Remains, each of these polishes can be built up to opacity to wear alone. Also, they can all be layered over base colour to give endless options!

Rustic remains looks gorgeous over black and Floam + Pinkerbell look awesome over other neon colours!

Amy's polishes can be bought at her Etsy shop
here. She is planning to open shop on March 19th! Be sure to check out her blog to see some of her other gorgeous polishes and her amazing swatches! A selection of her polishes are also available here at Ninja Polish!
I absolutely love Amy's polishes! AND for those of you who know me, I really really tend to dislike glitter polishes. These are not your average glitter polishes though! They are all gorgeous and up there with the likes of Deborah Lippmann's Across the Universe <3

Thoughts?

Nail-Venturous Lacquers - Floam

Hello! Today I have an amazing polish to show you from my friend and fellow blogger Amy (I'm Feeling Nail-Venturous).

Do you remember ever playing with floam? It's a fun toy that's like the child of tiny coloured Styrofoam balls and Play-Doh!

Without further ado, here is Floam!

Here is 2 coats of Floam and 2 coats of top coat to give it a smooth glassy finish. Floam applies quite easily for such a dense glitter. It's also important to note that the glitter in this polish is quite unique. It's tiny little teal and green neon pieces in a clear base. The polish can appear more green or more blue depending on the lighting. I really love this polish. It is so different and gives a new twist to neon polishes!

Amy's polishes can be bought at her Etsy stop here. She is planning to open shop on March 19th! So get ready, she has a ton of amazing glitter polishes! You can also find Floam here at Ninja Polish!

Check back soon for swatches of some of Amy's other polishes! (Pinkerbell, Voodoo Doll, Rustic Remains, and Man-maid Dreams)

China Glaze ~ Prismatic Collection ~ Swatches + Review

Hello Everyone! I have something exciting to show you today!! Here is the much anticipated China Glaze Prismatic collection! I know after seeing swatches, many people were disappointed that these weren't holographic like the OMG and Kaleidoscope collections, but I still really love them! They are a gorgeous mix of different coloured/sized glitter and a few of them have duochrome, colour shifting properties. I have enough holos anyways...

There are LOTSSS of pictures! Click "read more" to see the swatches as well as the collection over black, and a comparison of similar colours...
So here we have from L-R:
Prism (purple), Full Spectrum (pink), Ray-Diant (yellow-green), Optical Illusion (green), Liquid Crystal (blue), and Polarized (silver)
Blurred so you can see the glitter in action! (w. topcoat)

All swatches have 3 coats over a clear plastic nail swatchsicle
Artificial Light (w. topcoat)
Sunlight Indoors (w. topcoat)

Sunlight indoors (w. topcoat)

Look at the duochrome effect!
Click to see a great close up of the polish texture (no topcoat)

^^^ CLICK ME! CLICK ME!!! ^^^
Comparison of China Glaze Prismatic collection with
the Color Club Beyond the Mistletoe collection.

They are similar colours, but the CC's don't have the different sized/coulours glitters, nor the multichrome effect. The CC's also have some holographic glitter in them. In my opinion, you need BOTH collections! =D

Top Row: 3 coats
Bottom Row: 1 coat over black (colours in reverse order)

1 coat over black (w. topcoat + colours in reverse order)
The black base really brings out the multichrome.

I really like them over black. My favourites so far are probably the blue, the pink, the purple, then the green. Also, did I mention that they are silver caps??? It is hard to show in pictures due to all the sparkle, but with the exception of the silver, all the polishes are quite multichrome! What more could I ask for?? Honestly I think adding any holoness (linear of scattered glitter) would be overkill.

So what do you think?? Even thought they aren't holographic, will you still be picking some up?

ps, I've told myself that I am not allowed to buy polish for an indefinite period of time... I've gone 10 days so far! =D

Bobbie Glitters from the Philippines! (and new swatchsicles)

You may remember I posted about some polish my boyfriend got for me from the Philippines. Well, here are some swatches! I have for you 3 of the Bobbie polishes.
^ these have no topcoat
For a glimpse of what they would look with top coat, look at the picture below.
The one of the left looks like Across the Universe!
I think the centre one would be perfect for something like Xmas or New Years!
The one on the right looks like it will be an awesome layering glitter!

They are on my NEW nail swatching sticks =) (Yes, this is like my 5th trial system I think...) but I love these! I got them off ebay and I only ordered 1 set of 50 in case they wrinkle. Some other bloggers have found that when polished, some of the clear sticks will wrinkle up. I was lucky that mine did not wrinkle, but unfortunately when I went to purchase more, they were all sold out =( I'm currently waiting for the seller to restock and HOPEFULLY they will still be the "anti-wrinkle" ones lol.

For those of you that are OK with using the nude coloured sticks, I hear those don't wrinkle. You know me though, I need my clear!

What do you think of these international glitters??

Stash swatches ~ Sneak Peek!

So far I've tried quite a few methods of swatching my stash. I have the oval and round clear nail wheels but I get annoyed when I get a new colour and can't keep them in rainbow order

This new method allows me to rearrange the swatch spoons whenever my heart desires! Each individual spoon comes out!

I plan on using these to swatch my holos, flakies, multi/duochromes and other special polishes =)

This method does have it's pro's and con's though:

Pro's
~~ You can reorganize your swatches whenever you want
~~ They are acetone proof! (My nail wheels would start to dissolve if I used acetone on them)
~~ They are great for testing layering! You can apply one polish on the top, then apply another polish on the bottom. After the bottom polish dries, you can just peel it off by scratching or using tape!
~~ The material of the spoons shows the polish's real finish (mattes dry matte, glossy polish dries glossy. My nail wheels made everything glossy and I needed a ton of top coat!)
~~ The plastic board and spoons are quite sturdy

Con's
~~ The polish will come off if you scratch or peel it. I can see myself getting very upset in the future from accidentally scratching a set...
~~ The shape of the spoons isn't as great as the nail wheels. They are also hard to polish just the round part (but you can use a brush and acetone to clean them up)
~~ Since each spoon detaches, there is the possibility of loosing some!

<---- Here's the packaging they come in. I'll probably store them in these for now, so they aren't accidentally scratched.

What do you think of these? How do you swatch your stash?

Barielle ~~ Buddha-ful

Here I have for you a Barielle polish, Buddha-ful! I recently found it at Winners in a set of 5 polishes.

The other polishes I got were Decadence, U-Concrete-Me and Slate of Affairs (and another Buddha-ful for frankening!).

Buddha-ful is a nude based polish with green-blue flakes. It is sheer and here I have on 2 coats topped with Revlon Quick Dry. I don't mind that this polish is sheer. It's like a jelly-creme. It kind of gives the look of a soft french manicure with a subtle exotic hint of sparkle.

In most lights the flakies appear green like here...
...and here...
...but at extreme levels and just the right lighting, you can see the blue.
**Note: This polish is not meant for layering over dark colours. It has a very milky base and will most likely look streaky. However, I have tried it over the 3 other Barielles I got and it looked good! Just make sure you do a really thin layer!

I also want to try perhaps thinning this polish out and also frankening it into tinted shades. Hence the backup I got =)

Here's my layering:
I like it best over the grey

Have you had success layering or frankening with Buddha-ful?
If so, let me know your combos!

China Glaze BFF

Today I'd like to show you...
China Glaze BFF!

(and a tiny attempt at nail art!)

I've been looking everywhere for this one, ever since I found the brown version of it. Andrea sent me this one in a swap we did recently.

She also sent me China Glaze 2NITE and now my OMG collection is complete! (well the one's I want anyways). So enough with that, here is BFF!
Isn't it lovely???

Initially I thought it was too pink! I hardly ever wear pink polish, but it's starting to grow on me. BFF is a pink holo with a bit of a purple undertone. I don't really have any colours similar to it. It shows up on Google search as quite purple, but it really isn't purple at all... I think my swatches are pretty colour-accurate... well at least they are on my screen! lol... (it was hard to capture the pink without making my hand look like a lobster)
I did the accent finger with China Glaze OMG. If I had more time, I would have done all the fingers like this! To do the accent I painted the base of my nail with OMG, then I painted a crescent shape and filled in the rest of the nail, then I painted the tip with OMG again. What do you think??

Here's a shot including the label =)

MPJ... Purple Flash!

I think the pictures pretty much speak for themselves...!

Here we have
OPI My Private Jet!

For those of you who are new to holo polishes, there are MANY versions of MPJ. The current version is brown with a faint scattered holo. "Black" linear holo, "brown" linear holo, and "teal flash" are just some of the versions known to exist.

See how this one has a hint of purple? Well, here is my
PURPLE FLASH MPJ!

LOL... Puple Holo!

Here is China Glaze - LOL. It is part of the OMG collection and it is a purple holographic polish! I got this one off my friend Ginger!

My favourite polish colours are puple and teal, and I'm glad there are so many purple holos!

I have OPI - DS Original // Sand-erella, China Glaze LOL // IDK // Visit Me in Prism // Octa Gone Wild, Color Club - Fashion Addict and Wild at Heart. Now if only there were more teal holos!

This is 2 coats with no topcoat. I used OPI Nail Envy as a base. I had no streaking or bald spot issues. I don't experience these with the China Glaze OMGs. The polish was a bit thick, but for being old that's understandable. I just threw in a few drops of  thinner and shook it like crazy!

Although shaking polish is not recommended (you should roll to prevent bubbles) it is FULLY NECESSARY TO SHAKE THE HECK OUT OF HOLOS BEFORE YOU WEAR THEM! This ensures all of the holo goodness is equally distributed in your bottle =) this also means that most used dusty holos are SUPER-HOLO! due to lack of proper shaking technique! LOL...

The only issue I had with this one is that the sides of my brush strokes created not holo lines. So it was very difficult to have a smooth holo finish. I kept having to polish over the lines... Also note, it dries a bit more red than it shows in the bottle. You can see the difference in my picture.

Hope you enjoyed another holo post =)

***What's your favourite holo polish colour??***
