Pumpkin Spice Latte, Now Available as a Nail Polish...

Seems like everyone's jumping on the PSL (pumpkin spice latte) bandwagon nowadays! 

Now you can get your hit of PSL on your nails! Color club just announced its Pumpkin Spice Latte scented polish, exclusively available online on their website! I grabbed this pic off their insta @colorclubnaillacquer. Will you be grabbing some? 

Personally I've never tried a PSL as coffee make me feel like death... But I bet it smells yummy :) also the colour is right on point with trends, featuring what looks like a neutral latte colour creme? Hard to say as the pic they provided totally has shopped fake nails... I kinda want one... I love my cinnamon scented color club polish...Someone buy me one? Please?

Color Club Halo Hues ~ Cherubic

This is another gorgeous holographic polish from Color Club. This one is a neutral light peach colour. Cherubic is great for when you want a subtle look but still a pop of holographic rainbow. 

I love the polishes in the Halo Hues collection because they have a very strong holographic effect. They also dry quickly and only 2 coats were necessary for full opacity. They also have a glossier finish than polishes like Nfu Oh and Make Up Store, although not as glossy as the OPI DSs. Overall I love them!

Dotty art just for funsies!

   

So I decided to do some just for funsies nail art on my Color Club Silver Holo... Harp On It? Does anyone else find the names of the Color Club Halo Hues really hard to remember??? 

Anyways lol... I actually found myself bored of the holo YES it's possible, what's wrong with me right? so I added some designs using a dotting tool with Claire's Mood Polish in Excited/Bored. I just received this polish from my amazing friend Marissa, along with many other fun colour changing polishes. It was a fantastic surprise!

The mood polish changes from orange (cold) to peach (hot) but my hands are always ice cold so all you can see is the orange.

I'm curious to see how this mood polish would work stamped over a light colour. It might have a really cool effect, especially with long nails.

Color Club Halo Hues ~ Cloud Nine

   

Today I decided to try my first of the Halo Hues. This is Cloud Nine, a light pink-lilac colour. 

As I applied this polish I was a bit disappointed in the colour. This is supposed to be the "purple" of the collection so I wished it would be a more vibrant purple. It kind of reminds me of Glitter Gal Frappe, but not as sheer. 

The formula was ok, better than nfu oh/gosh/layla/MUS, but not as good as OPI/Jade. I'd say it's on par with the china glaze OMGs. It was a bit thick and there was some pulling and streaking. I ended up using 3 coats followed by Revlon Quick Dry Top Coat. It did dry fast though which was nice. 

This would be a good colour for someone looking for a more neutral, but still in-your-face-holographic polish. The base colour is quite dull. I'd show you but I wasn't able to capture it in a photo, maybe in cloudy daylight it would work. Under every light source I tried, all I could get was holographic rainbows!

   
        
                                                   

Many of the pictures show a blue cast and that's because 

the holographic effect is just so strong!

Below is a picture under the least rainbow inducing artificial light source I could find!

In the end, I was pleasantly surprised with how holographic Cloud Nine was. That quality definitely makes up for the dullness of the colour. If you love holos I'd say the Color Club Halo Hues are a must!

I really love how Cloud Nine has a foil look. It's not matte like the nfu oh/MUS/Gosh/Laylas. It gives the polish dimension and even in the shade it still looks gorgeous!

This polish is definitely one of the most holo I own. I'm looking forward to comparing it to others. 

Any suggestions what I should compare it to??

Color Club Halo Hues Collection!

Here is the Color Club ~ Halo Hues collection! A group of 6 beautiful holographic polishes. 

L-R: Cloud Nine, Halo-graphic, Cherubic, Angel Kiss, Blue Heaven, Harp On It. 

 I've finally been able to get my hands on them! They were supposed to be released in Aug/Sept but my local supply store has just received their stock. They are also twice as expensive as the regular color clubs =( but these polishes look very holographic in the bottle and I can't wait to swatch them and compare them to other holos. I'm glad color club is stepping up to the plate and coming out with holos! I also love the silver caps! They are much sturdier than the OPI and China Glaze ones.

31 Day Challenge ~ Day 2: Orange

Today's challenge is ORANGE! 

This is only the 2nd time I've ever worn orange (the first being for Halloween) and boy is this colour bright!!! 

These pictures do not even begin to show how neon this colour is. The bottle looks as if it is glowing when you hold it!

This colour is:
 Color Club ~ Polish For All. 

I was kind of lazy so I painted it over the silver stamping design I already had on my nails (which you will probably see later on in this challenge lol). I love how it shows through the orange!

An added challenge I've given myself is to try many of my untried polishes! So far I've crossed 2 off my list =)

31 Day Challenge ~ Day 1: Red

   Hello! So here we are with
Day 1 of the 31 Day Challenge. Today's theme is RED.

Here is Color Club ~ Santa's Cinnamon. It's a beautiful red glitter jelly polish and it's also a cinnamon scented smelly polish.

It was really hard to take a picture of this polish. It's really pretty in real life. It looks as if it's glowing.

Most of you know that red is not one of my go-to colours. One thing I love about this challenge is that I will have to use colours I've never used before!

Stamping ~ Pure Awesomeness!!!!

China Glaze ~ Let's Do It In 3-D with plate BM-221

(Please don't mind the messiness, I have yet to master the art of clean up.)  

Sometimes my nails catch the light and a beautiful holo rainbow appears under the black lines! I put a layer of topcoat over the black to protect the stamping but unfortunately this dulled out the holo. This look was super easy to do though! After the base colour was dry on my nails, it only took 10 minutes to do all the stamping!!! At work I got so many compliments! One lady even said that it probably cost a fortune to have had my nails done. She was shocked and amazed when I told her I did them myself. I'm very glad I started trying out stamping and I look forward to my adventures with other images!

This is definitely a quick way to get lovely professional looking nails!

China Glaze ~ Prismatic Collection ~ Swatches + Review

Hello Everyone! I have something exciting to show you today!! Here is the much anticipated China Glaze Prismatic collection! I know after seeing swatches, many people were disappointed that these weren't holographic like the OMG and Kaleidoscope collections, but I still really love them! They are a gorgeous mix of different coloured/sized glitter and a few of them have duochrome, colour shifting properties. I have enough holos anyways...

So here we have from L-R:

Prism (purple), Full Spectrum (pink), Ray-Diant (yellow-green), Optical Illusion (green), Liquid Crystal (blue), and Polarized (silver)

Comparison of China Glaze Prismatic collection with
the Color Club Beyond the Mistletoe collection.

They are similar colours, but the CC's don't have the different sized/coulours glitters, nor the multichrome effect. The CC's also have some holographic glitter in them. In my opinion, you need BOTH collections! =D

Top Row: 3 coats
Bottom Row: 1 coat over black (colours in reverse order)

1 coat over black (w. topcoat + colours in reverse order)
The black base really brings out the multichrome.

I really like them over black. My favourites so far are probably the blue, the pink, the purple, then the green. Also, did I mention that they are silver caps??? It is hard to show in pictures due to all the sparkle, but with the exception of the silver, all the polishes are quite multichrome! What more could I ask for?? Honestly I think adding any holoness (linear of scattered glitter) would be overkill.

So what do you think?? Even thought they aren't holographic, will you still be picking some up?

ps, I've told myself that I am not allowed to buy polish for an indefinite period of time... I've gone 10 days so far! =D

If you have Barielle ~ Elle's Spell. . . YOU MUST TRY THIS!!

So, you may or may not know that I am not a fan of reds...
Well when I got Barielle ~ Elle's Spell I WANTED to love it, but let's face it, it's a red! Elle's Spell is a flakie in a red jelly base. Often times people will layer it over black, but I dislike black/dark vamps as well... Soooo, when my bf selected it for me to wear, I decided I would make this work...

If you have Elle's Spell + a holo glitter, YOU MUST TRY THIS!!! PICTURES DO NOT DO IT JUSTICE...

you could probably also get the effect with by layering a flakie polish and a jelly polish if you don't have Elle's Spell... =p

To get this amazing look, I used:
** 1 coat of Sugarplumb Fairy
** 2 coats of Elle's Spell
(BC = Orly Bonder, TC = Poshe)

Depending on the lighting, the polish is mostly red with undertones of pink and black. It has great depth, as the scattered-holo glitter and orange-green flakies look embedded within the polish. It shimmers, shines and sparkles in every light and at every angle! It reminds me of those silver hologram stickers I used to get when I was little...

Let's Get "Dusty"! ~ Kim's Dusty Hunting How-To!

Hello everyone! 

Are you longing for old holographic polishes and other HTFs???

My Dusties =)

If so, you may find this post quite useful! I’ve had a few people ask me how I go about “dusty hunting” and finding these gems, so I thought I would share every aspect of what has worked for me =) I kid you not when I say every aspect! This is my exclusive-comprehensive-dusty-hunting-how-to-tell-all!

***WARNING*** This is essentially a novel/textbook excerpt! Feel free to scroll down to the sections of interest, or not bother reading it at all =p

~~ So first off, “Dusty Hunting” is when you go to stores and salons looking for old polishes that are hard to find (HTF). Often times these polishes can no longer be found in stores or online. We call it “dusty” because usually, the polish bottles will actually be covered in a layer of dust, since they probably haven’t been used/touched in a very long time! In my opinion, successful dusty hunting is a mix of luck, communication skills and opportunity.


Now that we know what dusty hunting is, how do we start?

My Halloween Nails!

Hello! Sorry it's been so long since I've last posted. School's been pretty hectic, but I've been taking pictures of all my polishings to show you later! I'm also working on a post about dusty hunting since I've received many questions from people wondering how to find old HTFs (hard-to-finds).

While the rest of my posts can wait, I figure I should at least get my Halloween one up before Halloween! so here it is =D I wanted to do something festive, but not too in-your-face, because I have work all day tomorrow! I think this simple design worked very well =)

I used: Color Club - Polish For All // Nina Ultra Pro - Molten Gold // China Glaze - Liquid Leather // Nubar - 2010 // China Glaze - Ghoulish Glow

This is 2 coats of Polish For All, then Molten Gold was used to dull out the orange, as it is very VERY NEON! Molten Gold is a gorgeous sheer pink-orange duochrome. I then used a brush to paint the black diagonal lines, it came from the set I got off eBay. Lastly, I used 2010 over the entire nail and topped off the orange sections with 2 coats of Ghoulish Glow! Ghoulish Glow is a great glow-in-the-dark polish. It is fairly clear and produces a good glow-effect with two coats.

Here is what Polish For All looks like alone. It is even brighter in real life! It came in the Color Club Pride set.

When I first got Nubar 2010, I knew that I'd be using it for Halloween. I'm not a huge fan of the orange-green flakies, I'm still looking for the perfect blue-duochrome flakie, but I think 2010 worked perfectly here!

New Nfu Oh vs. Make Up Store ~~~~ {part two} 62 vs. Madeleine

Hello again! Today I am going to show you 2 peachy pink holos, but first I want to clear up something from my last post. It may not have been obvious in my last post, but Nfu Oh 61 is still VERY holographic! It just looks dull in comparison to Greta! So here is 61 + Greta compared to some other silver holos:

L-R: Top Row = Greta // 61 //61
Bottom = Greta // Color Club Worth the Risque // OPI DS Coronation // Icing Glamorous

Compared to these duller holos, 61 stands out! Both Greta and 61 show a vivid array of colours, but the rainbow effect is more elongated and less scattered in Greta, as seen above. 

I also own 2 other Nfu Oh holos: 62 + 66. 62 is a peachy pink and 66 is like an apple green. I've heard that the MUS holos are very similar in colour to the Nfu Oh's (dupes). They don't have a green for me to compare to 66, but they do have Madeleine, a peachy pink. The other dupes are (blue) MUS SIW & Nfu Oh 65, and (pink) MUS Britt & Nfu Oh 63.

From these pictures you can somewhat see that Madeleine is somewhat more holographic than 62, but the extent of this is nowhere near that of the 61 & Greta comparison. There is also a slight difference in colour, Madeleine is slightly lighter.

I'd say they are close enough that you don't need both, but you could always use 62 as a base and top off with Madeleine (since it only comes in 8ml bottles and is $$$). Also, from my experience, both apply equally poorly without the proper "aqua" base coats. 

I've yet to do a wear test on these, but IF Madeleine wears as amazingly as Greta did (which you'll hear about in a future post), it is an indication that the extra $$$ = extra high quality!!! If you're looking for affordability though, 62 is definitely a cheaper alternative!
